Plot: I'm a huge mythology buff, so once I saw this book...I had to get it! The plot consists of a girl named Helen who lives on an island, Nantucket, and hears the gossip of a new family that moved there. She isn't interested in seeing them and even has anger towards her best friend when she talks about them. It isn't until she sees Lucas that she knows her life won't be normal again. Her feelings for him are manipulated by the three weeping women and there's only one way to get rid of those feelings. As the two see more of each other, they just want to part because of their feelings and their ancestors' history. With Helen learning more about herself and her powers, she grows closer to Lucas. It seems everyone and everything is tearing them apart, and the gods are not the only ones trying to break them apart. This romance is definitely a rollercoaster for the readers and will cause you to be torn yourself.
Characters: Helen - Helen doesn't want to be seen and will do anything to make sure she's just another shadow. Once she meets Lucas, this all goes down the hole and sees in everyone's sights. She is a character that develops throughout the book and decides what's best for others rather than just herself.
Lucas - Lucas is a character I could swoon over for days. He doesn't hide his feelings for Helen and has a strong protection over her. He cannot see her hurt nor does he want to be the one to hurt her. Since he has been exposed to his family's past, he tries to help Helen along the way and show her how demigods behave. He has his own secrets and slowly opens himself up to Helen.
Cover: I love the cover to this book. To me, it fits the mythology theme and shows some of the powers of the demigods: water and wind.
Overall Rating: I'm giving this book a three out of four because it was an amazing book and held it's own version of Greek mythology. It leaves you wanting more and definitely asking questions about the characters. There are surprises and twists around every corner, so the book never dies down. My only thing to say about this book is that it does have a slow start, but it does give a nice backdrop about the characters and the life they live before everythign changes.
