Shadow of the Mark Blog Tour *GIVEAWAY*

Today, here on the blog, we have Leigh Fallon dropping by with ten facts you didn't know about the Carrier Series and a giveaway!

Leigh Fallon’s Shadow of the Mark, the sequel to Carrier of the Mark, is a captivating love story set against the lush backdrop of Ireland.

Megan knew she was destined to be with Adam from the first moment she saw him and now they are determined to be together. But Megan and Adam are Marked Ones, and a romance between two Marked Ones is strictly forbidden…and could cause worldwide devastation.

Leigh Fallon’s Shadow of the Mark is a great choice for readers who love Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush, Hush.

10 Things You Didn’t Know About The Carrier Series

  1. The name of the second book was changed after HarperTeen acquired it. Its original name was Dawn of the knights.
  2. Pre edits. Half of what we have in Shadow of the Mark was actually part of Carrier of the Mark.
  3. Because of the reduction in the size of the Carrier, and a chunk of it going into Shadow of the Mark, I had to change the time line considerably. Originally Shadow of the Mark was to have taken place three months after Carrier and spanned a year instead of three months.
  4. The timeline changes meant that in the last book the Marked are still in school, when in my outline, they’d have been in college.
  5. The third book has the working title Age of the Fifth. This will not be the finished title though.
  6. Much of my writing is done to music. Shadow of the Mark’s playlist is definitely more broody than Carrier’s. Have a listen, I’ve attached links below.
  7. When I first penned Carrier the first chapter let you see Megan’s life in the US, before she left for Ireland, but I ditched it after the first draft.
  8. Jennifer’s character was originally super bitchy and horrible (I secretly loved her). After my first round of edits we decided she just wasn’t nice enough and we contemplated deleting her entirely. I decided to hang onto a slightly nicer version of her for comic relief.
  9. The last chapter of Shadow of the Mark was deleted. I ADORED the chapter and was so sad to see it go (my sister is still pouting over it), but I trust in the wisdom of my editor.
  10. The third book was by far the hardest book I’ve written to date. I’m a newbie to this industry, but from my experience the final book in a series is a killer.

I was born in South Africa, raised in Dublin, Ireland and moved to Cork in my 20’s. While living in beautiful Kinsale, Co Cork I discovered a love of writing. I write mainly for the young adult market. My current book, The Carrier of the Mark, prompted me to abandon my ‘riveting’ career in corporate treasury and have been writing ever since. I have another three books in the Carrier series and a few other projects I'm working on. My family and I now share our time between Ireland and the US.

Q: What is the one ARC you would love to get your hands on right now? A: That's so hard! I have to say that probably Silence (Hush, Hush #3) by Becca Fitzpatrick is the one I want the most. I haven't even gotten the chance to read Crescendo yet, but I loved Hush, Hush and am hooked into this series. The covers, the writing, the characters, the plot...everything! I would love to have this ARC! Q: Talk about the book that most changed or influenced your life (was it a book that turned you from an average to avid reader, did it help you deal with a particularly difficult situation, does it bring you comfort every time you read it?).   A: I would have to say that the Twilight Saga is what influenced my life. I read the series around three years ago before the movies came out. During that time, my family was going through so much and it was hard to handle it. I didn't have that much support to go to and I was confused as to my position and my health. I got hooked to Twilight bec...

Q: Let’s talk crazy book titles! Highlight one or two (or as many as you like!) titles in your personal collection that have the most interesting titles! If you can’t find any, feel free to find one on the internet! A: I'll stay true and look at my bookshelf. I don't have any crazy titles, but one that I got for my birthday is The Element Encyclopedia of Vampires: An A-Z of the Undead by Theresa Cheung . My sister bought it for me since she said this is "exactly" what I needed. Q: How has your reading habits changed since you were a teen? or If you are still a teen what new genres are you in love with currently? A: I love romance! I think that I'm a hopeless romantic, so I NEED romance. I can't get into a book if it has absolutely no romance. I've always been into urban fantasy, romance, and Young Adult, but I think I'm getting into more historical fiction. Q: Author Block Party: If you could gather a handful of authors to hang out with, who would you ...
